Farmers play a crucial role in the progress of the agricultural sector, being the backbone that drives food production and rural development. With traditional knowledge combined with modern techniques, farmers can increase the productivity, efficiency and sustainability of the agricultural sector. Their success in adapting better agricultural practices and being responsive to market changes can strengthen local and national economies, create jobs, and support the development of rural communities. Farming Financial Literacy Training in collaboration with the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro and the Semarang City Agricultural Service Office on May 15 2024. This training was welcomes by the Head of the Semarang City Agricultural Service Office, Drs. Hernowo Budi Luhur, SH, M.Sc., with resource person Prof. Titik Ekowati from the FPP Undip, Agribusiness study program.
According to Prof. Tititk, farmers’ financial literacy is an important factor that determines the performance of agricultural businesses. With a good understanding of financial management, farmers can make smarter decisions regarding resource management, investment in agricultural technology, and effective marketing strategies. This includes the ability to manage risks, such as market price fluctuations and climate change, which can significantly impact their revenues. Financial literacy also allows farmers to access financial products and services, such as credit and insurance, that can support business expansion or mitigate losses. Thus, increasing financial literacy among farmers will not only improve the performance of individual agricultural businesses but also contribute to the stability and economic growth of the agricultural sector as a whole.
